The concept of professorial chairs is based upon the partnership between the Sharjah International Foundation for History of Arab and Muslim Sciences and individuals or entities outside SIFHAMS for the funding, support and development of an area of research related to the history of Arab and Muslim sciences. Such individuals or entities provide the necessary funding once the Foundation establishes the professorial chair, which supports distinguished scholars and researchers who possess a high volume of quality research related to the history of Arab and Muslim sciences.

The Foundation endeavors to establish and activate professorial chairs in various fields serving the scientific heritage of Arabs and Muslims at distinguished universities as a bridge in identifying the contributions to Islamic civilization in the service of humankind.
