THE ARAB GOLDEN AGE – A REVISIT
07th – 13th April 2022
Department of Arabic & Islamic History, MES Mampad College(Autonomous), Kerala in Collaboration with Sharjah International Foundation for the History of Arab and Muslim Sciences initiated a short term program on the topic: "The Arab golden age – a revisit".
The course was chaired by Dr. Mesut Idriz, Director, SIFHAMS, University of Sharjah. The program was conducted also in collaboration with,

- Dept of Islamic studies, SAFI Institute of Advanced Study, Vazhayoor,
- Dept of Islamic Studies, Govt. Degree College, Sopore, Kashmir, and
- Madeenathululoom College, Pulikkal
- Department of Islamic History, Farook College (Autonomous), Kerala
- Department of Islamic History, MES Kalladi College, Kerala.
The program was directed by Dr. Sabique MK, MES Mampad College and jointly directed by Dr.Sabir Navas, Director, Academy of Excellence followed by the coordination, Dr. Abdul Vahid K, MES Mampad College.
The program was conducted in both offline and online modes.
The inaugural ceremony was held on 7th April 2022 at 10:00AM, followed by a session of Dr. Mesut Idriz. He delivered the key note address on the theme of the programme. He interacted with the students and clarified their queries on the topic.
The second day (08-04-2022) of the Program started off by the continuation of Dr. Mesut Idriz's expert lecture on "Transforming sciences from Islamic Civilization through revival." The session started by 10:30AM. It was highly beneficial and quite relevant to the syllabus of the students.
The next three sessions, conducted on 11th,12th and 13th of April was organized in online mode.
On 11th April 2022, the session was started off by a well designed lecture on "History of Learning: Arabs as great Middle men", delivered by Abdul Vahid. K , Head & Assistant Professor Deptt. of Islamic History, MES Mampad College. Next in line, we had a lecture by Dr.AbidaQuansar, Head & Assistant Professor Deptt. of Islamic Studies, Govt Degree College, Sopore, Kashmir on the topic: "Women Identity in Golden Age". The day was ended by a question answer session.
On 12th April 2022, the session began by a talk on "Need for Research in Medieval Science", by Dr.HaseenaBeegum T, Head & Assistant Professor Deptt. of Arabic, MES Mampad College. Subsequently, Dr.HassanShareef, Head & Assistant Professor, PG Deptt. of Islamic Studies, SAFI Institute of Advanced Study, Vazhayoor, lectured on "Quran and Hadith as motives of Learning". The day was ended off by a talk on "Science in Arab History, Religion and Reason", by Dr. Jayafer Ali A, Assistant Professor, Deptt. of Islamic History, MES Mampad College, Kerala.
On 13th April 2022, the wrapping day of our program, Dr.Zainul Abid T, Head & Assistant Professor PG Deptt. of Islamic History MES Kalladi College, Mannarkad spoke on "Historical Journeys of Ibn Khaldun through the Islamic Golden Age". The talk was followed by a lecture of Dr.Maimoonath, Head & Assistant Professor Dept of Islamic History, Farooq College, Calicut, Kerala on the topic: "Arabs and their medical Knowledge".
